Fifty-two summers and counting

Leyland Playscheme is a registered charity (no. 1179704) that has run a subsidised holiday playscheme for children aged 4 to 14 every summer since 1974. It runs across two summer weeks, one at Leyland and one at Samlesbury. Over 1,000 children and more than 200 volunteers take part each week, which makes it the biggest scheme of its kind in the UK. How the scheme is run

The scheme is 100% volunteer-run. Registration fees cover only part of what a week costs, and the rest comes from fundraising and from people and businesses in and around Leyland. That is what keeps the scheme within reach of every family.

The welfare of every child is paramount. Every volunteer is fully trained, DBS-checked and supervised through a clear structure.
